Anna Underowicz is a Polish-born architect and interdisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam since 2022. Trained as an architect in Poland—where the discipline is deeply rooted in artistic tradition—she brings a spatial and conceptual depth to her artistic practice. Her work explores the intersection of built form, material experimentation, and sensorial experience.

Since 2020, Anna has been developing her art practice with increasing focus and seriousness. She creates large-scale installations and sculptural works that invite reflection, play, and transformation. Her material language includes concrete, wood, steel, and more recently, paraffin and silicon—reflecting her ongoing fascination with both permanence and ephemerality.

Anna’s installations often respond to specific contexts.

During her residency at Kordon in Hiiumaa, Estonia, she transformed abandoned Soviet bunkers into spaces of invitation and interaction, creating works that navigated memory, architecture, and natural landscape. She also developed series such as Chaos Dance and Chaos Management, exploring order, spontaneity, and emotional landscapes through abstract visual forms.

Co-running an architectural office with her partner, Anna remains connected to the built environment while carving out time for her artistic development. Her ultimate aim is to refine her personal visual language, manifest a strong artistic manifesto, and contribute meaningfully to the field of contemporary installation art.
